I want to know the difference in web design development languages.?
About 10 years ago, I read HTML code book and I could build a VERY basic website. I have never used software to build one. Now I would like to learn it again. I see online classes I can take. BUT I don't know where to start.Is there a website or book that explains thoroughly with great examples so it will be easier to understand. I am a visual learner HTML vs XHTML, My SQL, JAVA, CSS.... etc I don't really know where to begin or where to ask. Web designers, do they always build sites from scratch? Not with software like dreamweaver? I eventually want to be able to build a community site, that people can share the information of city, and possibly buy a coupons of stores through internet. Or do I have to take 4 year college classes...?

I am new in the field of Web Design Development i.e. I have a basic knowledge in XHTML CSS, Javascript,PHP, ASP.Net, JSP etc & also have a basic knowledge to work in Dreamweaver, Visual Studio, Photoshop, Illustrator etc.But I want to have some expert knowledge on this softwares & languages but these are a lot for me in such a short time. Degree for web design/ development if wanting to go to a UC or CSU?
I haven't been able to find anything regarding a web design or development program at any UC or CSU? Please please correct me if there is one. What is a good degree major for one wanting to pursue web design development? I know computer science would be an obvious one, but the only reason why I am not really leaning toward it is because of its difficulty. There is tons of math involved in programming and such, and honestly math is something I find myself weak at, so I am worried if I were to pursue computer science it would be a waste. Any help? Suggestions? advice regarding becoming a web designer developer? I am gonna take some web design and basic computer science classes at my community college learn HTML, CSS, etc etc . Thanks

I'm currently studying graphic design at uni and wonder whether it is the best path to take into a career in web design development.Perhaps it would it be better for me to work 4 days per week doing my current crappy job and volunteer 1 day per week at a website design company for a year or so to gain experience? Do you think that would get me a job quicker than with a degree and next to no experience? I mean part time volunteer work " instead" of a degree in graphic design

At the moment most people still hire professional web designers developers to design and build their website but with a growing number of site building applications appearing, people are finding they can do more and more stuff themselves.These site building tools are going to get better and better over time and eventually I can imagine people will be able to build their own database driven applications with a fancy jquery front end by clicking a few buttons.What do you think the future holds for professional web designers developers?
